A fisherman in Russia just caught two ” horned” dogfish, worried they were mutated by fuel in debris falling from space rockets.

Two mysterious fish were caught by Alexey Volkov, 25 years old, in the Irtysh River, Siberia, Russia. Volkov calls them “sea dragons”.

Locals believe that radiation or some type of pollution caused the fish to mutate. They suspect this is the result of fuel in debris falling from a space rocket, launched from Baikonur in neighboring Kazakhstan.

Volkov said the large fish had two “horns” while the smaller fish had four “horns.”

“I’m very impressed with these fish. One weighs 14kg and the other weighs 7kg. They have horns that curve towards the tail,” Volkov said.

The fishermen warned Volkov not to eat these pike, but he still did. There are currently no problems with Volkov, Daily Mail reported.

After eating, Volkov preserved and dried the fish head, keeping it in the garage, according to Siberian Times.

Over the years, there have been concerns about the impact of missile debris in the region. Local newspapers also questioned whether this was the cause of illness in newborns. However, an abandoned chemical factory is also located near where the fish were caught.

Expert Arkady Balushkin, from the Institute of Zoology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, doubts people’s hypothesis.

Volkov said the large fish had two “horns” while the smaller fish had four “horns.”

He said: ” Any changes that occurred under the influence of chemicals or radiation would not have caused this new shape.

A pike will still be a pike. It may develop a tumor or become edematous, and this is typical of these fish. However, they are believed to not have any horns.

To confirm that it is a horned pike and not another species of fish, I will need to see it with my own eyes.”
