1. King vulture

The king vulture (or “King Vulture”) is a large vulture species that specializes in eating carcasses and garbage. Because their size does not allow them to fly high, king vultures usually only glide low in the air to save energy and search for food as dead animals.

Although eating carcasses may make you feel disgusted, vultures are good friends of the planet because they make the environment greener and cleaner.

King Vulture is distributed evenly from Southern Mexico to Argentina. According to legend, this vulture is a “king” who carries messages between humans and the gods.

2. Rupicola bird

Rupicola is a species of bird in the Cotingidae family, commonly found in the tropical rainforests of South America, and is native to South America.

The male’s plumage is bright orange and has a prominent semicircular crest. Meanwhile, the female has a brownish color, and is less prominent.

The Rupicola bird’s diet consists mainly of fruit, but sometimes also includes small snakes and lizards.

3. Bird of paradise

This beautifully named bird actually has a rather strange appearance. According to researchers, it is the nanostructure of the feathers that helps the bird of paradise’s feathers scatter and absorb light in a special way, thereby helping them possess mysterious black “wings”.

4. Golden pheasant

Golden pheasants originated in China and were later widely distributed in England, Scotland, Spain and France.

This is one of the most brilliant birds with a very long tail. Interestingly, female pheasants can lay 9 to 11 eggs and hatch after 3 weeks.

5. Hornbill

Hornbills are omnivores, able to eat fruits, insects and even small animals. Due to their short tongues, they cannot swallow food but have to throw it deep into their throats.

This bird has two differences from normal birds: they have extremely large eyelids and beak compared to their body size.

They got their name because they were found on Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean.

Local people call this bird “pirate” because they specialize in stealing food from other birds. Usually, this bird lives in pairs, and the males have a characteristic red sac-like throat.

7. Potoo Bird

The potoo bird, scientific name Nyctibius grandis is an interesting bird. Accordingly, this strange and adorable wide-eyed bird is unlike any other bird in appearance and personality.

Besides its bulging black and yellow eyes, this bird is also famous for its masterful camouflage skills. With gray-brown and white fur mixed with an extremely similar appearance to tree bark, this appearance helps it look like a harmless tree branch.

8. White-backed blue pheasant

This pheasant currently has very small numbers due to habitat loss. They are considered endemic to Taiwan, preferring broad-leaved areas in old forests and secondary forests at altitudes of 200-2000 meters.

The white-backed pheasant is very prominent with its purple-blue breast feathers, red-white wings, long tail and crest.

9. Collared vulture

The ancient condor (scientific name: Andean Condor) is one of the world’s most carnivorous birds.

Their appearance is quite unique with a white plume surrounding the lower part of the neck, especially visible in males.

They often nest at altitudes of up to 5,000 m, often on rock ledges that are not normally accessible.

The interesting thing is that these birds lay an egg every 2 years and the incubation period lasts 54-58 days. They are also one of the longest-lived birds in the world, with some reaching up to 70 years of age.

10. Mandarin Duck

This type of duck originates from China and Japan and is considered the most beautiful duck in the world. They often find mates according to the season. A special thing is that female ducks usually do not quack like other regular ducks.
