Most black cats have an unapproachable appearance and tend to have more difficulty finding a long-term caring owner. But with the four-eared cat Midas, it’s the exact opposite.
Portrait of a four-eared cat is extremely rare
The Midas cat is a blue-eyed Russian cat, with a slightly gray fur color but quite thick and fluffy. Many people have to look twice to realize the cat has 4 ears.
This deformation is related to a recessive gene mutation from its parents. Small ears do not help a cat hear better, its hearing is completely normal with large ears and additional small ears.
Thanks to its unusual deformity, the 4-month-old cat attracted a lot of attention and a woman in Türkiye adopted it. Cemre Polat hopes his efforts will encourage others to adopt unusual animals. Sometimes it’s the unusual things that make them special.
The cat’s owner already has a dog and another cat, and she hopes Midas will integrate well with the family members. Russian blue-eyed cats always behave gently and docilely.
Cemre Polat, owner of Midas said: “I don’t know if the cat can actually hear through its little ears, but they don’t hurt and Midas doesn’t have any hearing problems. Besides Strange appearance, Midas behaves like other normal cats”.
Currently, Midas lives peacefully and happily with his owner and to prevent him from being kidnapped because of his strange appearance, the owner is considering attaching a location chip to him. The new owner created a personal Instagram account for it to share the cat’s daily life. Currently the account has more than 20 thousand followers.
In the world, besides this cat named Midas, there are also a few cases of other cats with a similar mutation of growing 4 ears, but these numbers are extremely small. The oldest four-eared cat ever lived in Ashtabula, Ohio, USA in 1938.
