Serama chickens, also known as Malay bantams, upper class chickens or royal chickens, are the smallest species in the world but possess a toned body with their standing posture like a bodybuilder.
This breed of chicken originates from Malaysia and has been bred for more than 50 years.
Serama chickens normally weigh less than 500 grams. They have a short back, a small head that leans almost backwards, wings that are kept straight and directed towards the ground, pushing their large chest forward, and tail feathers standing up. Their neck, tail and back parts form a V shape.
The Serama chicken breed is known and loved by many people because of its beautiful feathers and many different colors. There are many beauty contests for Serama chickens held every year. Chickens with smooth, beautiful feathers, majestic posture and steps, and impressive wing flapping will be highly appreciated.
As soon as they are born, Serama chickens are trained by breeders to have the most beautiful shape. They are massaged for at least 10 minutes every day and given garlic wine three times a week to increase their immunity.
Serama chickens are very easy to raise and gentle. Each year, hens lay about 180 – 200 eggs. The Serama chicken’s lifespan is about 7 years, but some can live up to 10 years. This chicken species consumes about 0.5 kg of food per month. Their food needs to be crushed so that chickens can enjoy it more easily.
Serama chickens are not cheap, from 1 million to several tens of millions each.
