Mr. Tang Yongxiu (63 years old), the owner of the strange pig, said that the pig was in a litter of 8 born on August 2.

When Mr. Yongxiu came home from work, his wife suddenly ran out to announce that the mother pig had just given birth to a “6-legged monster”. However, when he went to the barn to check and clean the dirty oil, he discovered that the pig had 8 legs.

This is the only strange pig in a herd of 8 pigs. In addition to the normal 4 legs, the pig has 2 small legs under the belly protruding forward about 3-4cm long, and two legs in the middle of the belly dragging on the ground about 7-8cm long.

Mr. Yongxiu said that during his 20 years of raising cattle, he had never seen any strange animal like this.

With 8 strange legs, the pig suddenly became “famous” throughout the region, dozens of photographers and experts also came to the house to see the pig with their own eyes.

Guo Zongyi, director of the Chongqing Institute of Animal Science, said he often sees five-legged pigs, but eight-legged pigs are extremely rare. According to Mr. Zongyi, the cause may be due to inbreeding or genetic mutation.

Instead of raising it for meat, Mr. Yongxiu decided to keep the pig to research and see what it would be like when it grew up.
