People in many countries around the world have been able to admire the “super moon” phenomenon on Mid-Autumn Festival night (September 27, the full moon of the 8th lunar month) when the Moon is closest to the Earth this year.
Last night (September 27), the Moon looked 14% larger and 30% brighter than when it passed its closest point to the Earth. In addition, a total lunar eclipse (blood moon) also occurs when the moon is covered by the Earth’s shadow. This is the first time the super moon and blood moon phenomena have appeared together in the past 30 years.
