This caterpillar resembles the hairstyle of the US presidential candidate and it was found in the Peruvian Amazon, a place called Tambopata.
The flannel caterpillar is orange and has fluffy hair, so some people nickname it Trumpapillar.
You might not want to get too close, though: these caterpillars are more dangerous than they look.
Jeff Cremer, the wildlife photographer who discovered the creature, told Business Insider: “Even though it looks beautiful and soft and friendly and furry and cuddly and all that stuff, similar, but in reality it is not so”.
Instead of being hairy and tactile, these caterpillars actually cause burns and irritation with hive-causing hairs that act like tiny needles.
Cremer used a special lens on his camera that could take extremely close-up microscopic pictures and show each individual barb on the caterpillar’s “hairs,” but he had to careful.
“These caterpillars can be quite dangerous,” Cremer said. “I needed to be careful when taking pictures because there was a slight breeze and the stinging hairs started falling out and flying around in the wind.
“If one of them touches my skin or gets in my eyes it could be a bad situation.”
Urtica is Latin for “nettle”, and the hairs have similar characteristics to the painful plant
These hairs are used for protection from predators, Cremer said, and the caterpillars also come in other colors, like pink and white.
He also offered some advice: the next time you see something that looks like Donald Trump’s hair, don’t touch it.
