When they get too familiar with pets such as dogs, cats, etc., Vietnamese people gradually turn their attention to creatures with extremely strange shapes. It is undeniable that the attraction comes from South American dragons or turtles, pythons, etc., which are even considered “poisonous” in the world.
Of all reptiles, the South American dragon (also known as Iguana) is the most popular pet among Vietnamese people. They have flat bodies, dragon spines located along the spine extending to the tail. Contrary to its rather aggressive appearance, this reptile is very gentle and extremely easy to raise.
Mr. Tung, a longtime reptile hobbyist, said that South American dragons have about 4.5 colors, but in Vietnam there are two species that sell well: green South American dragons and red South American dragons. People love South American dragons for many reasons, but the most special thing about this species is that they have an IQ nearly as high as a dog. After a period of time being taught by the owner, it can go to the toilet in the right place and recognize its name.
Red South American dragons have a higher price because they themselves are a hybrid. When they are young, their bodies are slightly dark and their bellies are blue. The larger it is, the more obvious the red color is, especially when it reaches a length of 1m – 1m2, the South American dragon will turn red.
In Vietnam, there are very few opportunities to admire an albino South American dragon. The owner of this rare pet revealed that the albino South American dragon’s eyes look a bit poor and their price is also quite expensive because there is only one in thousands.
The average price of South American dragons is about 800,000 – 1,500,000 VND, depending on the beginning and end of the season, their size and the amount of reproduction. South American dragon eggs usually hatch in early summer. The latest generation only hatches at the beginning of winter.
When South American dragons reach their max size (largest size), they can be from 1m6 – 1m8 long, so they look quite “aggressive”, bringing novelty and arousing interest and curiosity in many people. When first buying a reptile, the most interesting thing is that the player can tame the pet themselves. From an animal that is always afraid and defends itself when someone touches it, after a period of time being fed and caressed by its owner, it will become extremely docile.
Bearded Dragons live in the desert so they need a hot and humid environment. According to the breeder, the bearded dragon is quite… silly so even children can play with it.
Bearded Dragon is very mobile, omnivorous and eats a lot. Therefore, farmers need to promptly supplement nutrients for their strong growth. Within the first few months of life, a bearded dragon can grow 3-4 times its body size. The price of a small-sized dragon fluctuates around 900,000 VND.
Mr. Thanh, a reptile hobbyist for about 4 years, recalls that he has raised many species from South American dragons to snakes. But in the beginning, due to lack of experience, many pets died. Later, when he learned how to raise and domesticate reptiles, he became more attached and fascinated with these unique pets.
